ISLAMABAD (APP) – Pakistan fit the bill for Group-I by beating Thailand 3-2 in the Davis Cup Asia-Oceania Group-II last played here at grass courts of the Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday.
In the primary match of the invert singles, Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul dominated Aisam ul haq by 7-5, 7-6, 4-6, 6-7, 7-6 (3-2). Wishaya led the pack in the initial two sets whipping Aisam by 7-5 and 7-6. In the mean time Aisam went successful in the third and fourth sets by 6-4, 7-6 however because of damage he couldn't keep up to the diversion and lost the last set to Wishaya by 6-7.
In the other match, Aqeel Khan drove Pakistan to triumph by overcoming Kittiphong Wachiramanowong by 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-2 (3-2). Aqeel fell off solid in the initial two sets 6-4, 6-3 while Kittiphong made a rebound in the third and fourth set by 3-6, 2-6 however Aqeel finished the last set on a triumphant note by 6-2.
Toward the finish of the last, Pakistan group was granted with decorations. Talking on the event, Aqeel said I needed Aisam to complete the last for Pakistan yet I think it was composed in my destiny to do as such.
He praised Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President, Salim Saifullah Khan and Aisam for the grass courts to be named on Aisam ul Haq's name.
Aisam praised the entire Pakistani country saying this had been a notable week for Pakistan dons as Pakistan cricket group beat World XI in Lahore and we won the Davis Cup last.
On the event, PTF President, Salim Saifullah declared a money prize of Rs 500,000 for the group saying Pakistan beat an extreme Thailand group today. "Our players worked hard and PTF will do full scale endeavors for advancement of tennis in the nation," he said.
